United Airlines announced an expansion of its international network, introducing new nonstop flights connecting the United States to four European destinations for summer 2026, according to a recent press release. The airline will launch services from its Newark/New York hub to Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This expansion follows the airline’s record-breaking summer 2025 growth.
United Airlines aims to meet increasing demand for European travel while providing American travelers with direct access to some of Europe’s most sought-after destinations. The new routes are part of United’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global reach, making it the only U.S. airline to offer nonstop service to these four European cities.
United Airlines’ New European Destinations From Newark/New York
United Airlines’ summer 2026 schedule includes four new European destinations, all served from its Newark/New York hub. Starting April 30, 2026, the airline will begin thrice-weekly service to Split, Croatia. This coastal Croatian city, known for its Roman ruins and picturesque beaches along the Adriatic Sea, will be connected to the United States for the first time by a U.S. carrier with nonstop flights.
The following day, on May 1, 2026, United will launch four weekly flights to Bari, Italy. Bari offers travelers rich Mediterranean charm, delicious cuisine, and access to southern Italy’s cultural heritage. United will be the only U.S. airline serving this Italian destination directly.
Expanding Presence In Scotland And Spain
United’s expansion continues with daily seasonal service to Glasgow, Scotland, beginning May 8, 2026. This new route complements United’s existing service to Edinburgh, further establishing the airline as the largest carrier between the United States and Scotland, the company stated in its announcement.
The final addition to United’s summer 2026 lineup is Santiago de Compostela, Spain, with service beginning May 27, 2026. This UNESCO World Heritage city, famous for its stunning cathedral and serving as the terminus of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, will receive three weekly flights. This marks the first regularly scheduled service between the United States and Santiago de Compostela.
In addition to these new European destinations, Yahoo Finance reports that United will continue operating all nine routes introduced during its successful summer 2025 expansion. These include seasonal services to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island and Faro, Portugal. Year-round service will continue to Dakar, Senegal; Puerto Escondido, Mexico; and Kaohsiung.
