Below, see filming locations for some of the 2026 Oscars Best Picture nominees. Also, read about the top things you can do and see in those places as a tourist. The 2026 Oscars will air on ABC at 7 p.m. ET on March 15 and will also stream live on Hulu.
Sinners — Clarksdale, Mississippi (Filmed in Louisiana)

Heading into this year’s awards, Sinners is the film to beat. As of the nominations, the Ryan Coogler–directed film has broken the record for most nominations in a single awards year.
With 16 nominations going into this year’s special night, Sinners takes the record title from 1950’s All About Eve, 1997’s Titanic, and 2016’s La La Land, which respectively earned 14 nominations in their allotted Oscars award years.
A Southern Gothic starring Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, George “Buddy” Guy, and Hailee Steinfeld, Sinners is set in the 1930s Jim Crow–era town of Clarksdale, Mississippi, a city in the Mississippi Delta. However, Sinners was filmed in neighboring Louisiana because the state reportedly had more extensive infrastructure for shooting.
Clarksdale, known as the “Home of the Blues,” promotes 365 nights a year of live music in local clubs and juke joints. Notably, cultural appropriation of Black contributions, the blues, and juke joints are all touch points in Coogler’s film.
If traveling through downtown Clarksdale, visitors should take time to learn about the deeply rooted Black history of the blues. Visiting the Delta Blues Museum and Red’s Juke Joint are musts. Also, put Messengers Pool Hall & Cafe and Ground Zero Blues Club (co-owned by Morgan Freeman) on your itinerary.
One Battle After Another — California / Texas

Also boasting a star-studded cast, One Battle After Another is a multi-genre movie where Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Chase Infinity put their acting chops to the test. Paul Thomas Anderson directed the film, shot in California and Texas.
Deserts, redwood forests, and borderlands were prominent in the film as the character “ex-revolutionary” Bob Ferguson dramatically hunted for his missing daughter, Willa. Filming locations in California included Sacramento, San Diego, Eureka, Arcata, and Stockton. Fans of the film may consider a road trip through Northern California to experience its settings.
In Sacramento, consider staying at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel and visiting the Railyards and Tower Bridge, all featured in the film.
Marty Supreme — New York City (Lower East Side, Manhattan)

Set in 1950s New York City, Marty Supreme is Josh Safdie’s solo project starring Timothée Chalamet, set in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The film is based on the life of ping-pong champion and neighborhood native Marty Reisman.
Movie crews took three blocks of modern-day Orchard Street and brought to life a snapshot of what the area would have looked like in the ’50s. The neighborhood was pivotal for the film’s authenticity and included several shooting locations. Strolling down and enjoying the streets’ shops, restaurants, and vendors can help you bask in the Marty Supreme spirit. Visit the Tenement Museum for insight into the area’s former living conditions.
Also, for your set-jetting itinerary, include a visit to Manhattan’s iconic Plaza Hotel, which served as a filming location for party scenes, according to Elle Decor. At the Plaza, grab afternoon tea, enjoy the spa, or get some luxury shopping done at the onsite retailers.
The Secret Agent — Recife, Brazil

Directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, The Secret Agent is a historical political thriller set in Recife, Brazil, during the 1970s. Amid political unrest under Brazil’s military dictatorship at the time, the main character, Armando (played by Wagner Moura), is being tracked down by hitmen. The story unravels as he flees to his hometown, Recife, hoping to reunite with his son and find refuge.
Recife is a great place to take advantage of local tours. Explore downtown and enjoy the dining options and shops in the Boa Vista neighborhood. Places you’ll want to hit on your itinerary include Ginásio Pernambucano (a historic school), São José Market, Recife City Museum, the Art Museum of Afro-Brazil Rolando Toro, and Cinema São Luiz (a historic theater).
