For Season 4, HBO’s The White Lotus is breaking away from Four Seasons properties and instead setting the newest destination of its fictional resort chain at the Airelles Collection’s Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez.
After it was confirmed last year that the hit show’s forthcoming season would film in France, fans have been dying to know which luxury location will be the latest vacation spot featured in the show. This month, Variety revealed that season 4 of the Golden Globe-nominated murder mystery will shoot at Château de La Messardière. The 19th-century-built property has lived several lives, majorly filled with grandeur. It was gifted from a cognac merchant to his daughter and her husband, served as a family home with seven children, and then became a beloved accommodation and party venue for Parisian elites in the 1920s. Following periods of neglect and restoration, the high-end hotel — which holds “Palace” status — reopened its legendary doors to guests as part of the Airelles Collection in 2021.
For Over $20,000 A Night, What Does A Stay At Château De La Messardière Include?
The hotel is about an hour and a half by car from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. It offers various accommodation types with different nightly rates. That said, Château de La Messardière’s two-level, four-bedroom “La Bastide” villa is currently going for €20,900 a night ($24,247 at the time of this report,) starting in April. Notably, the hotel is temporarily closed and will reopen to guests in the spring.
The villa includes king-sized beds, a full kitchen, a terrace with an outdoor fitness area, and a garden. One of the eye-catching draws of the accommodation is its private pool “with views of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.”
Included in one’s stay are breakfast, lunch at one of the property’s gourmet dining options, and spa and private beach access. Guests can also have hotel staff pack, unpack, and do laundry service for select items, all on the house. Of course, the minibar and e-bike access are complimentary too. Visitors can even get chauffeured transportation via Rolls-Royce and Mini-Moke to the beach or Salon Messardière for free.
The property has a heated rooftop infinity pool (among others), a high-end beach club, a state-of-the-art sporting club (with coaches), and a designated children’s summer club. During their stay, guests can watch a movie at the outdoor cinema, stroll the vegetable gardens, or imbibe during daily evening cocktails in the company of other vacationers. In case you forgot anything, or want to take pieces of the South of France back home with you, the on-site Vanille & Lilas boutique is filled with luxe attire, art, and home goods.
If you were curious, a “Superior Room” at the historic accommodation costs €1,150 (around $1,300) a night, starting in late April.
