Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed the cancellation of 11 cruises on its Firenze vessel scheduled for October and November of this year.
The cruise line issued a statement to USA Today about the cancellations in mid-March. Carnival apologized and noted that rebooking options are available to those impacted. Otherwise, guests who booked the Firenze for those fall sailings will have their money refunded. Travel agents and impacted guests have already been notified.
“Due to changes to itinerary plans, we have canceled sailings aboard Carnival Firenze scheduled between October 12, 2026, and November 16, 2026,” said Carnival via email.
“We have apologized to our impacted guests and are offering them the option to rebook another Carnival cruise with their cruise fare protected on a comparable sailing in similar accommodations, along with an onboard credit,” the cruise line added. “Guests who choose not to reschedule will receive a full refund of their cruise fare and any pre-purchased items to the original form of payment.”
What Else Is There To Know About The Cruise Cancellations?
Both big and small cruise lines occasionally cancel a portion of their scheduled sailings. Last July, Norwegian Cruise Line canceled 41 sailings on its Prima and Breakaway ships between November 2026 and March 2027. Additionally, in October 2025, the cruise line canceled or swapped home ports for various sailings on its Gem, Dawn, Getaway, and Joy ships, also impacting sailings from November 2026 through March 2027.
In February, Alaskan Dream Cruises abruptly ceased operations and canceled all its future sailings.
This month (March 2026), several sources, including the unofficial Royal Caribbean Blog, have reported that Royal Caribbean canceled over 20 cruises scheduled during summer 2027 on its Freedom of the Seas ship. In a statement to the Independent, the cruise line noted that the Freedom of the Seas‘ sailings have been redeployed for the aforementioned time frame.
“Deployment planning is dynamic and regularly reviewed based on demand, capacity requirements, and broader fleet considerations,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson told The Independent in a statement. “As part of this process, we’ve made the decision to redeploy Freedom of the Seas to Southampton in 2027. Guests and travel partners are being contacted directly with details about their sailings and available options.”
